Mobile Frontiers

We shouldn't be surprised that all tings will go mobile. After all, we started with static tools, like PC's, then went on to laptops, and now to mobile devices. I would not be surprised if one possible branching of our technology would be to incorporate generic terminals or even a supernetwork and server system so your body carries a profile identifier chip and cybernetic implants, and you just plug into your own "virtual world/desktop" from anywhere there is service. At that point, having a modile device would seem positively archaic.

... and I just realized that I described part of the world shown in Ghost in the Shell.
