Automation and Human Employment

As artificial intelligence and industrial development changes the human component and requirement, we have to explore where humans will be in the chain of production. And if we won't be there, eventually, the implications for human society will be far-reaching. Will we make places for ourselves in the automated system, simply as part of the check and balance, or will we let go completely, to explore other aspects of human development?

AI and IT (along with other job issues)

As much as I agree that AI systems could take over IT jobs and other white-collar work spaces in the future, it's a question that isn't just about cost - though I am sure that for many boardrooms, that will be the magic word.

I still believe that humans should be in key points of any organizational/work structure, just to make sure that we have a human set of eyes. You can call it the start of discrimination against post-human life forms, but right now, until we can properly "grow" an AI to be fully sentient and more human (in the positive sense only, please!) then I have massive apprehensions about going full-AI in certain organizational positions and roles.

Don’t be a Drone: Some reflections on how people are with their jobs

There will be heaps of advice, on how you shouldn’t stay too long in one job, and always look for better pay, and higher rank. If you have kids, then it’s even more important to find a job that will take care of them. Once you have more resources, you’ll find time for your hobbies and interests.

It’s the perfect lifestyle. However, you have to ask yourself: does it get to be repetitive? Is it a bit of drudgery? Many people will instantly tell you that, of course, you have to learn to love the job, or at least find a job close to your interests that pays well. And it you don’t like the job, then you should just suck it up and think of the money, and how it can at least give you the chance to afford a nice hobby that you like.

Does that sound fair? Would you bite that apple? If you do, then what you should do is prevent yourself from becoming a drone.
