Batman and the Shadow

Batman has obviously been influenced by the pulp heroes, so it's nice to see a mash-up series where Batman and the Shadow can clash. I wouldn't say team-up, since these two are not the sort - unless it would involve the likes of Ra's Al Ghul.

As you can see in the art below, there's a lot of fighting. I am in between on the concept of it (though I love the artwork), since I'm a fan of the creepy/cheesy Kyle Baker Shadow era. The idea that the only thing you hear is the laughter and see are the muzzle flashes makes it much better.

No More Toys: Miller, on Batman

We know that Frank Miller is a serious guy when it comes to the Batman narrative, but I would say that perhaps, instead of no more toys, it should be no more toys aimed at children. There's a BIG market for adult-oriented collectibles that the Batman franchise can benefit from. Of course, lately, it's been a lot of Harley Quinn, but that's not bad either.

Superman, Batman, The Generation Gap, and Interpretation

 

To say that my father and I do not get along well is an understatement. Although I do love him dearly, I think we both know that we have enough differences in thinking that staying in the same house for extended periods becomes a lesson in attitudinal endurance.

I've always thought about how to illustrate the big differences we have in the way we think (which is more important than opinions, as it turns out), and hilariously, the best way to illustrate our differences – and, I realized the big generation gap between the Internet and non-Internet generations – is in how we think about Superman.
